Back in December one of our instructors, Coach Meredith approached us and said “I have been looking into diffferent areas to volunteer in and to give something back…I thought maybe I could provide soccer classes…to low-income kids. I was thinking we could do something like a 4 week season and we could charge nothing in which case I would do the class for free…Let me know what you think and if this is even possible.”

We thought, AWESOME!!!

This fits in perfectly with the concept of Soccer Shots Global Goals, which is the philanthropic arm of Soccer Shots that was launched last year and continues into 2010. Through our efforts in South Africa we aspire to be a franchise community that leverages our success to help others.

Thanks to Coach Meredith’s generosity we are now offering a free 4 week season of Soccer Shots at Tulita CDC in Redondo Beach, CA. The school is very appreciative and the kids are having a blast!

We look to continue giving back to the community. Please contact us to inquire about future opportunities involving Soccer Shots Global Goals.

PARTNERING TO BRING AID TO CHILDREN IN SOUTH AFRICA
$1 DONATED FROM EACH REGISTRATION

Soccer Shots Global Goals is the philanthropic arm of Soccer Shots. Through this non-profit organization we seek to impact children involved in our Soccer Shots program as well as positively influence disadvantaged children in the US and around the world. We, at Soccer Shots, aspire to be a franchise community that leverages our success to help others. The Soccer Shots Global Goals tag line “Stronger Youth. Beyond the Game.” concisely describes our collective efforts to provide opportunities for youth in underprivileged communities directly and indirectly through the game of soccer.

Inspired by the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Soccer Shots Global Goals will focus on Khayelitsha, South Africa. A township outside of Cape Town where many children have lost parents to HIV/AIDS and are in the care of the community. Our renowned and proven partner, Amandla Ku Lutsha, empowers and educates homeless and orphaned youth through education and soccer. In order to reach our financial goal of 30k by summer 2010, $1 of your child’s registration fee will go toward this pledge.

We’re excited about Global Goals – South Africa and the significant contribution you, your center, and the entire Soccer Shots system will make to positively affect the youth of Khayelitsha. Thank you for signing your child up for Soccer Shots and your support of the Global Goals – South Africa campaign!

“Stronger Youth. Beyond the Game.”

To whom it may concern,

Cedarcreek After School Education and Safety Program has had the opportunity to have Soccer Shots as part of the curriculum for two seasons. We feel this has been a positive and fun experience for our kids, the coaches are fun, loving, understanding and flexible with each child. We have a child with special needs in the program and Rian has stayed after everyone is done to work with him one on one, the happiness and excitement in that child’s eyes is priceless.

I would recommend Soccer Shots to anybody as we ourselves will be using them again.

We are very pleased to hear that Governer Schwarzenegger signed legislation that will increase access to Pre-Kindergarten programs in California.

We clearly understand the importance of early education for children and we applaud the Governor!

This is the press release from the Governors office:

09/26/2008 GAAS:664:08 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Governor Schwarzenegger Signs Pre-Kindergarten Education Legislation

Fulfilling his commitment to provide quality Pre-Kindergarten education for the state’s most vulnerable children, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced he has signed legislation that increases access to Pre-Kindergarten programs and works to improve the quality of child development programs. SB 1629 by Senator Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) would develop a ratings system on the quality of early education programs and AB 2759 by Assemblymember Dave Jones (D-Sacramento) streamlines funding to expand preschool availability throughout the state.

“Pre-Kindergarten education is the first formal step a child takes toward academic success and California’s children deserve the highest-quality programs that put them on track to a successful future,” said Governor Schwarzenegger. “This legislation will help to ensure early education programs are available to the children who need them most and that the state continues to achieve higher quality child development programs.”

SB 1629 establishes the Early Learning Quality Improvement System Advisory Committee to propose recommendations on how to evaluate and improve the quality of child development programs providing services from birth to age five, including preschool. The bill also establishes a framework for future resources necessary to achieve and maintain higher quality programs.

AB 2759 establishes the California State Preschool Program (CSP), which consolidates all the early childhood education programs in the state. Specifically, CSP streamlines funding which will expand preschool options, increase program availability and reduce administrative costs.

Since taking office, Gov. Schwarzenegger has worked to ensure California’s children have access to a quality Pre-Kindergarten education. In 2006, he signed legislation to expand Pre-K to more than 12,000 children living in areas with low performing schools.
